The days are getting shorter and the nights seem darker than ever, yet agents still find time to raise money for good causes.

We're always very happy to publicise every agent's efforts and pay tribute to your fine work, especially in the build-up to Christmas. If you want to be mentioned, please let us know. Email press@estateagenttoday.co.uk.

In the meantime, here are this week's updates.

Wrap Up London: Today's the last day for donations to Paramount Properties' third consecutive Wrap Up London initiative. This gives unwanted coats to vulnerable men, women and children in London each winter.

Last year the firm received over 100 coats from local residents and we'd love to beat that number this year. If you want to do the same, take your spare coat to the firm at 150 West End Lane, West Hampstead, London NW6 1SD - and you'll get a special gift from Paramount as a thank you.

The Great British Property Paddle: Agents Giving wants all agents to muster their paddle power for the charity's wettest event to date - The Great British Property Paddle.

Andrew Trantum of Embrace Mortgage Services, part of the LSL group, is set to kayak and canoe his way along all the waterways of Britain - in excess of 300 miles - to raise money for Agents Giving.

He's calling on agents, housebuilders and suppliers to the property industry across the UK to pick up a paddle and join him for a stretch of the route - he'll make available equipment to anyone intrepid enough to get out on the water. No experience is necessary; all that is needed is the ability to swim. The idea is that everyone should aim to raise as much money in sponsorship as possible for good causes.

Companies across the UK can also sponsor one of nineteen legs' of the event or sponsor one of the three main kayaks. Rightmove is also supporting the event through the award of a significant grant to help cover set-up costs and has also branded one of the kayaks.

Peter Knight, Chairman at Agents Giving, says this is exactly the sort of innovative fundraising we want to encourage. Andrew has thought of something a little bit different that others can also contribute to in a variety of ways and to varying degrees of intensity.

The aim is to paddle around 20 miles every day along a route which covers as much of the UK's navigable waterways as possible to allow as much agent involvement as possible.

You have plenty of time to prepare. Agents Giving is encouraging people to sign up now, with the event planned to take place in June 2015.

Macmillan Cancer Support: South Wales property auctioneer Paul Fosh will have a lot on his mind over the coming months as he trains for the toughest endurance event in the world. Paul, owner of Paul Fosh Auctions, Newport, is an entrant in The Likeys 6633 Ultra 2015 Arctic Ultra in March.

A keen runner and general outdoor sportsperson married father to four Paul, aged 48, who lives in Monmouth, has signed up for what the organisers, Likeys of Brecon, describe on their website as quite possibly the toughest race of its kind on the planet.

Paul said: I will be one of just 25 people taking part in the challenge which will see me cover at least 120 miles in the Yukon, northern Canada, almost entirely within the Arctic Circle pulling all the equipment I need on a sled, or pulk'. To give an idea of the enormity of the challenge, the event has been run on six occasions and in that time only eleven people have completed it.

I'll be raising funds for Macmillan Cancer Support. If I successfully complete the 120 mile challenge then I will have to decide whether I am able to push on to try for the 350 mile distance.
