The Property Redress Scheme, one of three property ombudsman schemes operating across the sales and lettings sectors, says it has now hit 2,000 members.

The 2,000th member was Archingtons, a sales and lettings agency in Camden, north London.

This surge in membership has really exceeded our expectations. Estimates suggested there were 3,000 to 4,000 letting agents who would need to join a redress scheme. To achieve a membership of 2,000 in such a short time suggests that the majority of these agents have chosen to join the PRS or the number of prospective members was underestimated says PRS managing director Tim Frome.

Property Redress Scheme claims it is still recruiting new members at around 20 per day.

PRS has also this week been accepted by ARLA as a bona fide redress scheme which association members can join.
