Right, given overseas investment is my forte (well, I hope so at least), I should really get the discussion going in this section.

So, here it goes: If you had to choose one place in the world in which to have a second home, where would it be? (It could also be somewhere you'd like to emigrate to permanently/spend your retirement in).

For me, it has to be Portugal, specifically the Algarve. Given my username, it'd be a bit worrying if it wasn't, wouldn't it? I've been going there - for business and leisure - for the last 27 years, and each time I find a small little village or a tiny, family-run restaurant that captures my heart. Fantastic food, sun, a relaxed, slower pace of life, football, port, even the crazy Portuguese drivers - they make it a fantastic place to both holiday in and invest.

There is a significant expat community in Portugal, so you'll get little reminders of England wherever you go. I'd recommend - if you do move to Portugal permanently - to learn the language and immerse yourself in the local culture. Even an attempt at the language will be much-appreciated. I do miss Blighty when I'm working away (that's why I'm based here for half the year), but If I had to see out my final years anywhere else, it would definitely be the Algarve.

Now your turn.
