It must be one of the best-kept secrets in the industry – a business that has a sideline in doing wallpapers for agents.

London firm Wallpapered reckons to have done wallpapers for around 1,000 agents.

And although they are rather samey – simply because they are, without exception, maps – each one is also unique – because each wallpaper is custom-made to show each agent’s area of operation plus, usually, their own colours and branding.

Robert Hoare of Wallpapered says: “We take an estate agent’s postcode, decide on the radius area they would like covered and tweak the colours to their brand. After this initial stage we can add pins or a logo to the map.”

The firm’s mainstream business is in the more conventional type of wall covering, although it does do wallpapers of the London Underground.

Its work for agents all started by accident about two and a half years ago, when the firm began producing a range of world map wallpaper designs. These proved popular with home owners and then one thing led to another.

Cost-wise, you’re looking at £32 per square metre, and apparently customers are dab-hands at hanging the wallpapers themselves.

“We print on to a premium non-woven paper which is incredibly easy to hang,” says Hoare. “All our orders come fully supplied with paste and instructions.”

Hmmm... I take it that 'S A Longden' objected to my post.

Never mind - the point was made.

Agreed - it's a very good idea and I hadn't come across it before. It doesn't read like an advert to me, and I have never seen this advertised. EAT's right, it is well kept secret.

Who cares this is a blatant advert? It is a good idea and one I did not know.

Agree with Kevin. Its a proper advert, not even a thinly disguised advertorial.

How much were you paid to put this on here? This is not news. This is an advert.
