The power of the written word is providing estate agents with motivation, says office refurbishment specialist MPL Interiors. The company that specialises in transforming estate agents' premises is seeing a trend for 'wordles' - wall art where a collection of motivational words and phrases is grouped together and applied in a decorative manner.

Harry Simons, Partner at MPL Interiors, says wordles have crossed over from online to print: "Word or 'tag' clouds are popular website features - clustering together popular search terms and key words pertaining to a business. The different fonts and weights used to give certain words prominence has made them quite eye catching and their appeal has now crossed over into interior styling. The principle is the same - a company identifies key words and phrases associated with its business and we create a wordle for them."

The wordle can be as big or as small as requested, and can feature a variety of fonts, sizes and colours. "We recently created a whole wall wordle for The Acorn Group. The wordle is printed to a vinyl application, which is then applied directly to the wall. Acorn chose a mixture of motivational phrases and business terms in red and blue that, when applied to a white wall, makes a stunning impact."

The wordle for The Acorn Group is the third MPL has recently created. Estate agent Samuel & Co in the Midlands opted for a wordle made out of famous quotes by people like Albert Einstein and Gene Kranz

('failure is not an option' from the Apollo 13 space mission). There's also a wordle in the Lanes Group headquarters, featuring motivational words such as 'dynamic', 'vision' and 'communicate'.

"As well as applying wordles to walls, we can also apply wordles to glass," says Harry. "At Lanes Group we fulfilled the health and safety regulation for glass walls by applying the wordle to the transparent surface use a clear vinyl backing. The colour choice of grey and pink matched with the business' corporate identity, and helped 'tie' the interior scheme together."

Wordles are just one way office walls can be customised with vinyl applications. Any photograph, illustration or logo can be printed to vinyl and used any size. "We can super size any image so it covers a whole wall, if necessary, or use a number of small images to create a pattern. Recently we took an image of an exposed brick wall and printed this to vinyl. It acted as a brick wallpaper in one estate agent's office - and is very convincing when you consider the wall it was applied to was just plaster."
