Property portal Zoopla has launched what it calls the ultimate iPhone app.

It gives free instant value estimates on every single home in the country – all 27 million of them – as well as viewing current listings, as well as sold price data for over 15 million properties dating back to 1995.

It makes use of Augmented Reality technology, displaying images of any property along with any relevant information such as the current asking price or current value estimate, via the camera view.

This means users can search for results by a variety of means including geography, price and keywords.

A one-touch click facility allows users to call or email estate or letting agents immediately.

Available with iPhone 3GS or 4 only, the Zoopla.co.uk app can be downloaded free from the iTunes store. Click here

A property we have just completed on is valued on the zoopla app 20k less than we got and is proposed rental figure is £200 a month out.
This on a property worth only £180,000.

    In other words it sucks.

I can also recommend the free "Paper Toss" App download - it tests your ability to toss a screwd up ball of paper into a waste bin ......

Nice idea, but their site can't get close to accurate valuations, not found one that can yet, maybe the iphone has a better idea how to value, will know local martket trends, will know what is selling now not months ago and then we Estate Agents go work at Tesco for Haart!

Suitable for Zoopla listed Estate Agents yes.

Practical for general public use covering the whole market? Not so sure.

Do public really need to know what a house sold for back in 1995 when making a valuation today?

AR technology is supposed to enable users access instant information in one screen.
Zoopla require them to hold up phone and tap for property, tap for prices etc - hardly designed to be intuitive.

No doubt zoopla visitors will download but other independent augmented reality portals showing all non exclusive agent listed property will provide more content and thus satisfy the publics need for one portal to provide a comprehensive list.

Agents wanting to include property listing in an AR medium should look at alternative options such as ones that are part of pre-installation deals and can offer greater exposure rather than just zoopla visitors.
