We are sorry that an email sent out by Estate Agent Today containing a job advert caused so much angst.

A number of you complained in posts and wondered what the explanation was.

Well, we clearly got it wrong on this occasion. The email, advertising a negotiator’s job, was sent on behalf of a client – so I suppose in one sense, it is good news that an agency is actually recruiting at the moment!

However, EAT is read by thousands of you in the industry, including agency bosses and their staff, and we do appreciate our readership. Perhaps we should have equally appreciated that bosses would prefer their people not to receive emails direct into their in-boxes containing a recruitment advert.

Anyway, we’re sorry and we’ve learnt our lesson. There is, of course, a recruitment advertising section on the site (just as there are recruitment pages at the back of most of the printed trade press), and that is where the jobs will stay.

    ha ha vossy,,like your posts normally but you really are insecure when it comes to staff aren't you.

    Do you ring up the classifieds and complain just in case your staff read them>>??

    It is refreshing that when a mistake or bad call is made an apology is forthcoming…..that’s good customer service and something we can all learn from. For all those out there who couldn’t see what the fuss was all about its very simple, if we don’t look after our staff then of course they will look elsewhere and we endeavour to always be fair and open at all times and if a member of staff wishes to leave we would not stop them, unless of course they were bringing in such a huge income we couldn’t afford to lose them, which unfortunately is not the case at the moment, but has been in the past! All we wanted was to keep recruitment issues in the recruitment section and the property discussions in another. I would guess, but may be wrong, that most of those who cant see anything wrong in directly canvassing staff about a job vacancy are probably staff themselves and maybe if they are stupid enough, as I was, to actually become a “boss” then they may take a different view! Once again good customer service costs nothing but means so much.

    As I commented on this before - Look after your staff and they WILL stay! If they are not happy, then they WILL go!!

    EAT you did not get it wrong - if so take of the Job vacancies link on the left of this site! Anyone subscribing to EAT will get emails of all kinds anyone wanting to leave the place they currently work will do so, without the help of EAT! I AGREE that the GOOD NEWS is agents are recruiting and if this creates healthy competition for good staff then why not! If youre worried your staff will leave your company at such an advert, then LOOK AFTER THEM!
