Rightmove has been ranked fifth in global property portals in terms of revenue.

The estimates cover the year until June 2009 and have been made by Classified Ad Ventures, owner of Property Portal Watch.

The portal with the most revenue  is a German one – despite that country being mired in recession. It is followed by portals in the USA, China and Australia.

Two other sites make the top 25 revenue earners – Primelocation in 12th place and FindaProperty in19th. Primelocation has less than one-third of Rightmove’s earnings and FindaProperty less than one-fifth, according to the estimates.

The other major UK portal, Propertyfinder, is missing from the top 25.

The rankings do not explore profitability, as opposed to revenue.

    Dear Freddie,

How much did you give your clients back when you had profitable years?

we don't use them cos they charge per office even tho they let other agents just use a single office covering three or four branches. Then they charge existing advertisers 1 price and anyone new a higher price. Methinks not fair, so stuff 'em !

Aren't RM making a lot more than £4m a year.

Their profits alone were £20m+ weren't they?
