Home movers are continuing to search and research Rightmove in record numbers, the site has reported just days ahead of its annual results.

Rightmove climbed to sixth place in Experian Hitwise’s weekly rankings of the UK’s busiest websites over the first two weeks of January.

Latest figures reveal that this was more than a post-Christmas surge, said Rightmove, which is due to publish its annual results on Friday.

The site said that levels of interest and activity in property have been sustained, driving record levels of inquiries to estate agent advertisers.

Traffic activity for the first six weeks of the year (to February 12) has continued to set new records with more than 1.7 billion pages viewed across Rightmove, up more than 20% on the same period last year.

Rightmove director Miles Shipside said: “It’s hugely encouraging to see Rightmove’s January traffic is being sustained.

“This means we have been able to put Rightmove member agents in front of more home-hunters than ever before at this time of year and help them ‘prime the pump’ ahead of the spring market.

“Many agents and developers are telling us they have already got a promising level of deals under their belt.”

He added: “January represented our best month ever for calls and emails to advertisers on Rightmove.”

We get twice as many leads from Zoopla than RM and pay a fraction of the price. Both give a mix of good and bad leads and always will, that's normal, but RM will never reduce the rates and there is nothing us agents can do about it!

RM cannot control 'timewasters'. How would they know?

It doesn´t matter how many leads they send out, what matters is the quality of them. I get far too many timewasters from them.

I was actually told by a rep that the reason I wasn't get any valuation leads is because a corporate in the next town had bought the rights and advertising space to our postcode.
    Nice bunch aren't they.
