A former public lavatory has sold at auction for more than three times its guide price – leaving its owners flushed with a convenient £104,000.

Auction House sold the toilets, closed five years ago by the local council in Sheringham, Norfolk, after quoting a guide of £30,000 to £40,000.

The not-so-bog-standard property is by the seafront and was being sold with outline permission to convert into a holiday home.

Auctioneer Bryan Baxter said: “We achieved an excellent price for this property.

“Unusually, it’s a two-storey loo building. When in use, the gents were downstairs and the ladies upstairs. But what a view – perfect.”

'SPEND A PENNY! Offered with no onward chain is this compact and bijou property in a sort-after (sic) location. The property boasts an unconventional functional style of tiles, tiles, more tiles, and sluices. Would suit an investor or FTB looking to take their first step onto the property ladder.'
