Police are appealing for information to trace an arsonist who has been setting fire to For Sale signs in and around Headington, Oxford.

There have been nine incidents within the past two weeks where signs have been set alight.

PC Zoe Eele said: “Most of these fires have been started along the London Road, which is a busy road at all times of the day with traffic coming in and out of the city, and I believe someone must have seen something.

“Other than destroying the signs, the fires haven’t caused too much damage and we are keen to catch the person responsible before it potentially escalates and someone gets hurt.

“I would urge anyone with information about these incidents to come forward and speak to me as soon as possible.”

And in the winter when it snows the little watsits steal them to go sledging on the snow.

I use other agents boards when they dont get taken down when the vendors ask for making seeding trays. Sadistically satisfying and free as well!

This is a long established sport, been going on for years.

Best way to do it is squirt a little bit of lighter fluid on first then light the bugger and leg it whilst laughing so hard you think you cant breathe and your mates are all at the end of the road whopping and clapping at the brief but impressive inferno of corex plastic and Swan Vesta’s finest fluid.

At least that’s what im told.

Hmmm... takes me back to the early 90's when the little scamps used to set fire to my company's boards in t'West End of Newcastle. They implemented a novel way of doing it as well - none of this 'lighter-under-board-and-Bob's-yer-Uncle' shenanegans...

They set fire to the properties and the boards followed suit! ;o)

I doubt many "budding arsonists" spend their mornings reading esate agent today. It does not take a genius to hold a lighter to a for sale board.

Way to go! Lets advertise to other budding arsonists the delights and ease of which it is to set agents boards alight!
