A dedicated awards event is to be held in London in June for letting agents only, in conjunction with The Sunday Times.
The Lettings Agency of the Year Awards are being spun off as a separate event by Peter Knight’s organisation, after organisers of last November’s Estate Agency of the Year Awards had to turn away well over 100 possible delegates because of lack of space in a very large venue – Chelsea Football Club

Like the Estate Agency of the Year awards, the new event will run alongside a seminar programme.

The exact date and venue – unlikely to be Stamford Bridge – are still to be announced.

Knight said: “Lettings has become ever more important over the last few years. In 2009 we introduced ‘Lettings Live’, a new seminar which received a 100% approval rating with every delegate feedback form stating they would attend next year. It is clear the industry has the appetite for a separate event focused totally on lettings.”

Dave Thompson of News International, parent company of The Sunday Times, said: “We are very pleased to continue our support for the industry and to recognise the achievements of both sales and lettings agencies. Agents have reacted well to the change in market conditions and this separate event will determine who has done it the best.”

The Lettings Agency of the Year Awards will be inviting entries at the end of February and these will be judged by a panel of journalists and property experts under the chairmanship of Property Ombudsman Christopher Hamer.
