The National Approved Letting Scheme (NALS) is backing the Lets for Pets campaign launched by the charity Dogs Trust.

It is encouraging its member agents to become more ‘pet friendly’.

Caroline Pickering, NALS chairman, said: “Many NALS firms have been surprised to learn that a survey conducted by Dogs Trust clearly showed that more landlords are prepared to accept pets than agents generally realise.”

She said agents could consider charging extra for tenants with pets. Actually, the press release used the phrase ‘pet’s deposit’ but, as dog-owners ourselves here at EAT, we thought it needed rephrasing as it’s a concept we’re trying to get ours to unlearn.
