Commuters travelling through Waterloo station, London, on Wednesday (March 21) can expect a treat for the eyes in the form of a flurry of Marie Curie’s yellow daffodils, being sold to raise funds for cancer care.

If you are one of those commuters, do stop and buy a daff – the seller will be an estate agent.

The Waterloo fundraising initiative is being run by Winkworth, who are sending an army of staff to both the Waterloo train stations plus the Underground, to hand out daffodils and collect funds.

About 300,000 people pass daily through Waterloo, and it’s hoped that each daff will raise a £1 donation.

Altogether, 100 staff members from Winkworth will be involved from 6am right through to 8pm.

Nick Goble, the franchisee of Winkworth who is organising the event, said: “This is the third time that Winkworth has worked with Marie Curie. We are delighted to be involved yet again for this worthy cause and this year we want to raise a significant sum for this great charity.

“If you are passing through Waterloo station at any point during the day, do please donate whatever you can.”

Our very best wishes for a great, fund-raising day.

WELL DONE, Winkworth, for putting in the time and effort required to carry out this fundraising. I hope it goes brilliantly!

It is a pity that no-one else has so far recognised your actions for this most worthy cause...
