Kinleigh Folkard & Hayward’s clients and best friends should be able to look forward to a treat after the agent successfully bid for a box at the Royal Albert Hall to see Michael Ball in concert.

It did so at a champagne tea party and auction hosted by the Digital Property Group. The party was held at Vogue House (obviously, the EAT offices in Beckenham, Kent, weren’t quite posh enough, but we’ll work on that).

However, we can’t begin to knock the cause or the agents who, modestly, won’t say how much they bid for the box which is probably worth around £10,000.

The party and auction were in aid of the Estate Agency Foundation, launched by Peter Knight (who also keeps his name away from the cause). The Foundation is worth knowing about: its fundraising supports many homeless charities including Broadway, which is KFH’s affiliated charity.

Broadway is, in our view, an outstanding London-based homeless charity. Unlike some homeless charities, it is not a talking shop.

It helps over 4,000 people each year to get their lives back on track, find a job and keep a home – usually in the private rented sector. Broadway’s mission is to support, challenge and inspire people on their journey from street to home, and it is always looking for letting agents to help it, whether through finding suitable properties and sympathetic landlords, or through voluntary work, fundraising or lettings expertise.

We take our hats off to the KFH staff who have joined Broadway’s outreach shifts to understand fully what Broadway does.

Nigel Lewis, of Digital’s Primelocation website, said:  “It was amazing to see some of the UK’s best known and most successful estate agents marshalled into one room to raise money for charities working with the homeless under the auspices of the Estate Agency Foundation.

“And it was equally exciting to achieve this in partnership with such a high-profile magazine publisher as Conde Nast. But, in particular, thanks to those who helped make the event a success via their energetic bidding.”

Who says estate agency is all bad? We think this particular story is fantastic! Well done to all involved.
