Knight Frank is set to be the world’s most successful agent next year – at least in terms of the most expensive properties sold across the globe.

Knight Frank is acting in the sales of three out of the top ten properties predicted to fetch the highest prices across the globe in 2014.

At the top is 18 Carlton House Terrace, London, for sale with Knight Frank at £250m.

In second place is a property in Kensington Palace Gardens which is on with Knight Frank at £100m.

The firm is also handling the sale of a property, pictured, in Bishops Avenue, London, at £65m, which makes it to tenth place on the list.

New York, like London, also has three properties in the top ten list, compiled by wealth watchers Spear’s magazine and consultancy WealthInsight.

Three other properties in the top ten in America reflect film industry money (Los Angeles), oil money (Dallas) and hedge fund money (Connecticut).

A tenth property is a 150-year-old mansion in Istanbul, Turkey, reflecting the growing number of super-wealthy in that country.

There were some extraordinary house sales this year, including the £17.5m purchase by Robbie Williams of Michael Winner’s old pad in Holland Park, London.

The most expensive sale seems to have been at $75m for a house in Malibu which belonged to millionaire trader Howard Marks. Buyers were an un-named Russian couple.

However, WealthInsight analyst Oliver Williams says: “Next year promises to see some even bigger transactions, with prices not only surpassing pre-recession levels but breaking all-time records.”

It is making Knight Frank’s 2014 pot for its partners shape up very nicely indeed – even if it is a long, long way from the real world in which most estate agents ply their trade.

Top ten house sales predicted for next year:

18 Carlton House Terrace, London: $380m (£250m)

Kensington Palace Gardens, London: $163m (£100m)

The Owlwood Estate, Los Angeles: $150m

Copper Beech Farm, Connecticut: $140m

Crespi/Hicks Estate, Dallas: $135m

The Residence at the River House, New York: $130m

The Penthouse at the Pierre Hotel, New York: $125m

Zeki Pasa Waterside Mansion, Istanbul: $115m

One Beacon Court Duplex, New York: $115m

Bishops Avenue, London: $106.8m (£65m)
