EAT’s new arts column is about to go from strength to strength, with the appointment of a heavyweight critic.

Big T, fresh from a weekend in Brighton with his 24-year-old purring cat (and a Jaguar), is being despatched to darkest Battersea tomorrow evening to review for EAT the latest play to hit ‘off-West End’. It’s by Suzie Miller and is called ‘SOLD’ – an everyday story of property folk.

Trading as Granger & Co Estate Agents, the production’s PR people tell Trevor he’ll get up-front and personal with the relationship problems the single-office staff endure on a daily basis. Especially young negotiator Mandy (Kellie Shirley – Carly Wicks from Eastenders), who soon discovers the magic rule of property (apparently): ‘Sex sells – and I can’t help it.”

This naturally upsets the more senior negotiator, Hilary, played by Abigail Thaw (yes, Morse’s daughter) not a little.

Big T will – merely for authenticity – be accompanied by his own Mandy, although more often than not their dramatic age difference is put down these days to his needing a nurse/carer, rather than him just giving the new junior neg a nice night out!

SOLD is at Theatre 503 London and runs nightly until May 14: box office 020 7978 7040.

You can read Big T’s review next week.

As long as Mr Peter Hendry doesn't get the job as Orchestral Critic!!

Come on, Big T - what's your view on the chap?

This is a splendid apppointment. I hope you will get him to review some ballet as I believe he would have a natural feel for it.

Oh dear, I may have been demoted to EstateAgentTooday's new 'ART CRITIC', but I can still be critical of NAEA too (although I don't enjoy seeing our Association getting it so wrong these days). Yes, they should have told Mr Pursehouse at the CLG exactly what nonsense the EPC revamp is. At the same time they could drop licensing AND stop sending out press releases saying 'don't use an NAEA Member unless licensed'.
