The Digital Property Group’s high-profile recruitment drive to add more staff to its headcount has already resulted in the appointment of an editorial manager for primelocation.

This is on top of the existing ‘head of content’ post occupied by Mike O’Flynn.

Claire Mitchell is a former assistant producer and journalist at the BBC, where she produced content for their lifestyle portals and for the BBC Four website. She has also worked at the glossy magazine Country Living.

Mitchell will be responsible for editing the primelocation blogs and managing a range of editorial projects, including ‘how to guides’, producing podcasts and video content.

O’Flynn said: “We had some very impressive applicants for the position. Editorial is an important part of our online marketing strategy and covers a wide range of activities, from generating content appropriate to our audience to supporting our customers, and from managing social media to working with our SEO [search engine optimisation] team.”

Earlier this year rival Propertyfinder installed Nigel Lewis, formerly the Daily Mail’s property editor, as editor of its content. Propertyfinder, currently in the throes of being sold to Zoopla, has been making huge losses every year and its media owners, including The Times, are thought to have tired of their investment.

Digital, by contrast,  is currently recruiting for a wide range of well-paid positions, as its owners, the Daily Mail, have unlocked the purse strings. The new roles are in business development, sales, marketing, web design, product development and credit control.
