Video – Phil Spencer chats to Ed Mead on PropTech, London and estate agency

In a wide-ranging video interview for his Move iQ service, Phil Spencer speaks to former agent and founder of Viewber, Ed Mead.

Spencer speaks to industry veteran Mead about his background in the industry, including 24 extremely successful years at Douglas & Gordon.

Mead discusses some of the big moments affecting the housing market during his time in the industry and why the reduced fun factor of living in Central London has been one of the most significant changes he's experienced.

The conversation then moves to PropTech and Mead's business Viewber, which is an outsourced viewing service for estate and letting agents.

Mead explains the initial motivation behind starting up the firm and why it aims to solve the problem of buyers being denied viewings at weekends due to lack of agency staff.

He discusses how the needs of the younger generations - wanting to do everything online, at once - is influencing the way agencies operate and the service they're expected to provide.

The interview concludes with Spencer asking Mead about his plans for his company over the next two to five years, with Mead explaining that he hopes Viewber can become the 'de facto viewing service for the industry'.

It's an engaging interview with plenty of insight and you can with it in full below.
