Me Personally have not worn a tie for about 5 years in a professional capacity this has not hindered my ability to offer the professional service my clients expect, wearing a tie does not make you a good agent just as wearing a £300 pair of footy boots turn you ino a gareth Bale. Your ability to meet your clients expectations put your client at ease is down too knoledge and experience not the clothes on your back, each to their own, old school agency is ok for old school clients but these are slowly being replaced by the prop tech generation who have never worn suits or been part of the elite establisment , times are changing and this industry needs to replace the regimented stuffyness and move in to the real world. .

This industry has changed in the 26 years i have been working in it, it's no longer a 9.00 -6.00 buisness that said we work 6 day weeks and TBH the staff are becomming tired and lethargic flexible working is the way to go but too many company directors and regional managers are old school and things will never change

Whilst i agree partially with Jack most of the arrogent white males as quoted made the company the sucess it was, and have now either left the buisness or been forced to leave by a CEO that just does not understand what the buisness she runs is and how it became sucessful in the first place. Sad to see but have a little chuckle all the same.

This is not just relevent to sales there are letting agents that also keep their stock as available one agent in our area show way in excess of any of the peers and had recently listed a property that was first added in february 2017

I left ARLA after many years as the UKALA money protection our office carries is not recognised by ARLA and therefore negates my membership to the organisation, to be honest havent missed being a member and £200 saved

It is indeed a sorry state of affairs , back in the day everyone wanted to work for a Bairstow Eves , it was know for excellent training and career prospects, ive experienced the bitter taste of working for a successful business being taken over by Countrywide and the empty promises made , I can only suggest that if their employees have half a brain they will seek employment elsewhere before its too late ( or last one out turn the lights off)

Am I being naïve here, surely if agents had a choice of using all three portals I for one would be happy to subscribe to all three, OTM would then have a stronger business by more agents joining and more property advertised, the general public would be more aware as more agents promoted OTM with a bigger market share the other two would be less reluctant to increase costs as OTM agents would actually have a more beneficial presence thus challenging the Duopoly from a position of strength with members that actually believe in the product as opposed to those that took the decision not to join counting their blessings looking at the debacle that is currently going on. This does our industry no service at all.

Like you Claire we also saw the writing on the wall from the outset, and yes I am feeling very smug as they say there's no fool like an agency fool.

Unsolicited reviews or recommendations are earned by providing a good quality service , and are always gratefully received, paid for sites that promote these reviews are surely soliciting for such reviews on behalf of their paying clients and reviews should be taken with a pinch of salt without using due diligence, such sites should be heavily policed and regulated to ensure their content is genuine.
