Rightmove's position in our industry is rightly under threat from other competing portals and new entrants. RM needs to re-invent its pricing structure, introduce more digital marketing, and take stock of their paying customers. Homesearch sounds fab, and worth supporting, but the big question for agents is balancing their portal spend and the remainder of their digital marketing spend. Feels a bit like the debate I used to have with colleagues about national advertising and local advertising.

The advice from NAEA Propertymark is pretty clear (sent out to members on an email last night) and probably worth following right now. Ultimately, we need to be consumer-led, and I doubt the 'normal' volumes of MAs and viewings will occur until the general populus feels safe. So, get that PPE kit, think about viewings/MAs on vacant properties, and keep communicating with your customers remotely!

The cost per lead from RM now , compared to the other portals, is appalling and concerning. For the first time in years, I'm seriously questioning whether or not RM is vital to our business. Is it the modern equivalent of where we were with newspaper ads five years ago?
