I personally think experience comes above someone who can sit an exam. The way forward like alot of companies should be so many CPD hours and training courses so you are up to speed with the current rules and regulations that come into place. Someone who has been in the industry for 10 years+ should just refresh their memory with courses and training. I agree someone who just has started and has no experience should sit some sort of exam. What we dont want to do hear is lose good agents who have been in the industry for many years who aren't great at taking exams. Estate agents have enough pressure at present with Covid rules and Brexit looming. NAEA even have an associate grade which means you can use their logo if you have been in the industry for over 5 years. ROPA should introduce something similar.

I personally think Estate Agents have enough stress to deal with with at present with Covid & Brexit and now the government want us to take mandatory qualifications. We could see good agents out of the industry all because of an exam. A wealth of experience in my opinion is better than someone who comes straight out of school and passes an exam. I think this is just another money making scheme and of course NAEA, ARLA & property mark want us to take the exam and pay for their study material. A Lot of unanswered questions yet again from the government.

I think its very unfair that we could lose good agents who have been in the industry for many years. I think grandfathering should be aloud as it is still used in many other trades. So people who have mortgages, rent to pay could be out of a job and lord best thinks that is ok??? Well unemployment will now be higher! the industry is tough enough as it is with Brexit etc. I think the exam should be slightly easier depending on your experience. A wealth of experience is far better than someone who has just come out of school and passes an exam. Taking an exam doesn't make you a good agent it just means you can read a book. Personally I think its just a ploy to make more money! Are the government going to fund us to take these exams? How many times can we take the exam? is there a certain amount of time to do it? All these questions are not answered.

Agree with regulation but I think Grandfathering should still be allowed, a person in the industry with years of experience e is better than a junior passing an exam. If you are elderly like me been in the industry all my life and not that good at exams and pressure, i could soon be out of a job and then what will i do??? We are under enough stress with Brexit and tenancy fee bans and now exams what next!!!!!

I personally think its unfair agents like myself who have been in the industry a long while and have to go back too school to study, the housing market is a mess anyway without more stress added to take a qualification and could then be out of a job if not passed.
