The trend to online only auctions seems to be permanent and there are many potential bidders who miss the atmosphere and emotion of a live auction place. And fees levied on buyers are getting ever higher despite the savings the auctioneers make by not hosting a live event. It seems like the checkout versus self service supermarket debate.

At £2 per ticket at least 375,000 tickets need to be sold if the house is worth £750,000 which is big ask. Does Raffle House reveal how many tickets they sell per raffle?

Residential People is yet another property portal that says it will be of assistance to estate agents but does that mean that buyers and vendors will not be considered first?

According to research by Caveathomebuyer a house in Nottingham NG10 was sold at auction over 2 years ago for £165,000. The buyer did it up and put it on via a prominent local agent @ £250,000. It did not sell. Eventually it was reduced by 15k but still did not sell. Now there is a new agent and it is reduced again to £225,000. Still overpriced though. It needs reducing perhaps to £212,500 which would be a 15 per cent reduction which proves that 85 per cent of the original quarter of a million would have been a better option for the seller.

One well established agent in west Nottingham has numerous boards which seem to remain for ever and a day. What about the rule of one board per property? This is totally ignored and this particular agent plants boards on grass verges and on main roads a considerable distance away from the relevant properties. I counted ten For Sale/Sold/To Let/Let By boards on one small block of apartments and they have been there for years without being removed and this block is just 200 yards away from Erewash Borough Council's offices!

I think any agency with MOVE in the title should consider a change of name as it conflicts with Your Move, eMoov and EweMove and probably several others too.

Update 14/02/18. The period of consultation with staff was shortlived and resulted in no love lost between staff and bosses this Valentine's Day. Your Move has abruptly shut its Stapleford NG9 and its Long Eaton NG10 branches in the Nottingham area. The nearby Beeston NG9 and Wollaton NG8 branches are franchises so they are safe for the time being. But what about the landlords whose properties were managed by Stapleford and Long Eaton branches? They are being directed to the Nottingham city centre office so I imagine they will defect and find a more local agent.

According to research by Caveathomebuyer YOUR MOVE has just 8 properties for sale within 3 miles of its Long Eaton NG10 branch and also just 8 within 3 miles of its Beeston NG9 branch which are in the Nottingham area. CLearly, this is unsustainable. This count excludes those sold STC. Your Move also has a branch in Wollaton NG8 so there is some overlapping and the nearest comparable corporate chain is Frank Innes which have many more properties for sale.

One of the agents operating in my area likes to erect boards on grass verges a fair distance from the properties for sale which just blight the roadside.

I bought my first home in Nottingham in 1982 and have bought and sold several around the city since then. Every estate agent I encountered was over enthusiastic. Many blatantly lie in their communications and in this age of the internet they are easily caught out. Haart are now apparently seeking approval from head office prior to sending out letters which I think is a mistake as it stifles local individualism. I will say this in their favour, - their property descriptions are very well written and largely avoid the suit first time buyer/investor tripe penned by lazy agents

LSL trades as Your Move in my area of Long Eaton NG10. The statement does not refer specifically to Your Move but research by Caveathomebuyer reveals that the local branch has just eight properties for sale, excluding those sold stc. The nearby affluent area of Beeston NG9 also has just 8 properties on its books and Stapleford in NG9 has only three.

What value does the brand name emoov have? Minus value in my opinion and Mashroom is deluded if it thinks otherwise. Caveathomebuyer
