Not quite right, Foster. In banes itself, for a property around 600k with typical 3 bedroom houses priced between 350-500k depending on the area, SDLT is 26000, not 2500-5000. you are missing a zero in your response

its the abuse of power and the council letting the power go to their head that worries me as they are far too keen to overuse the interview under caution especially if you are a foreigner or non english landlord. i heard of non white landlord having to pay unscrupulous builders tens of thousand of pounds to upgrade their property even to have upvc doors windows and one were told not written as improvement but told require water sprinkler on a 4 bed 2 story house just because tenant insist on smoking and told council they smoke despite contract not allowing smoking in the house.
