About Me

Appointed as Managing Director of Martin & Co in July 2003 I worked with founders Richard & Kathy Martin to develop the business as a high street specialist letting agent. By 2012 we were the single most instructed lettings brand in the UK, and in 2013 we listed on AIM with a view to raising capital for expansion purposes. In 2014 we acquired the master franchise rights from Legal & General to a collection of high street estate agency brands of good provenance and pedigree; CJ Hole, Parkers, Ellis & Co and Whitegates. In 2016 we purchased our first "on-line" estate agency EweMove in September 2017 for what now appears to be the "bargain" price of £9m in view of the valuations pertaining to other on-line players (whether these are fully justified by trading performance remains to be seen). EweMove provides us with technical insight that we can deploy across our whole Group and is a defensive play if the public decides that on-line is the future of estate agency. Unlike other "listing" models, EweMove is a full service estate agency proposition, which charges normal estate agency fees on a no-sale no fee basis, but operates 24/7 and with a "happy customer guarantee" (no sole agency selling rights lock in). It enjoys an enviable reputation on Trust Pilot (No. 1 Estate Agent) and competes on service, with the Local Property Partner dealing with all aspects of the sale (viewings are ALWAYS accompanied) from listing to completion. Because of the technology platform efficiencies, and lack of office overhead, each Partner can earn a good living by completing on just one property per week.
