My First Property Sale: 'Vendor was so impressed she became an agent'

A EweMove franchisee has revealed how her first sale was so successful that it convinced the vendor to become an estate agent.

Sophie Harker, branch director of EweMove Stamford & Spalding, reveals in the latest edition of Estate Agent Today’s My First Property Sale series how she sold her friend Sarah Chilver’s house.

Sarah was so impressed with the service that she now works as a branch manager with Sophie at EweMove Stamford & Spalding.

Sophie told Estate Agent Today: “We used to do lettings mainly and then sold a few properties for landlords.

“The first sale was a bit of a unique story one as it was to Sarah, the other branch manager.

“She worked in pensions and insurance but was made redundant.

“She was drawn to what we did and the creative side and now the rest is history.”

Sophie’s first sale took place in 2016 and she says the market is completely different now.

She said: “There is so much interest because supply is low but demand is high.

“We have always got around 98.6% of asking price achieved but more recently it is 100% or above as we sometimes have more than four people offering at a time.

“It is easier to make the sale but getting it through to exchange and completion is harder.

“Open chains are a big problem in the UK and it is taking longer for things to turn over.

“That is where the hard work begins for us.”
