Dementia UK: Lincolnshire agency Pygott and Crone, outsourced communications provider Moneypenny and Relocation Agent Network have joined forces to pound the pavements this month as they take on a 100km charity challenge for Dementia UK.

More than 120 employees, suppliers and partners are taking to the streets, hills and parks to walk, run or cycle 100km each before January 31.

Kevin Scrupps, director of Pygott and Crone, says: “Following the huge success of last year’s 100k challenge for charity, we wanted to organise another, this time with help from our friends at Moneypenny and Relocation Agent Network. There are many deserving charities, but the decision to support Dementia UK was easy as this cruel disease has affected many of us personally.

“We are so lucky in our industry as estate agents, partners and industry suppliers always answer a call for support. When you consider that many of these people give their time to charity events all year round, we are privileged they were willing to get involved with this too.”

Chest Heart & Strike Scotland/Scottish Association for Mental Health Partners at chartered surveying firm DM Hall are extending their funding support for a further year to leading Scottish charities, Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland (CHSS) and SAMH (Scottish Association for Mental Health).

The agreement with the firm’s charity partners was originally put in place in January 2019 and was due to conclude in December 2020. But the effects of the Covid-19 epidemic and the severe impact it has had on Scotland’s charity sector, both in terms of cash and staff employed, led DM Hall’s partners to pledge their continued support for a further year.

John McHugh, managing partner of DM Hall, says: “While, as a professional firm, we are experiencing a return to acceptable trading volumes, Scotland’s charity sector is still struggling to come to terms with the new reality. Consequently, we have decided to continue to support SAMH and Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland for yet another year.

“In the past 12 months, our colleagues have continued to fundraise by organising donations via collection cans, supporting colleagues and taking part in charity events including the Edinburgh Marathon, Kiltwalk and Firewalk.

“My colleague Roger Davis completed the Virtual Edinburgh Marathon in May raising almost £700, particularly challenging without the usual support of the crowds, while another four colleagues, Amanda Cameron, Tracy King, Lauren Bannigan and Ruth Cunningham, raised £2750 by completing The Kiltwalk, a sum which then increased to £5500 with a contribution from DM Hall, and matched funding from Sir Tom Hunter and The Hunter Foundation.

“Our marketing manager, Caroline Wayte, raised over £1200 ‘Walking the Flames’ for CHSS and we are reliably informed it was not as painful as it sounds, while our East and West Golf Days, organised by our Business Development Director, Keith Craig, raised £600. As a firm we are very proud of all their efforts on behalf of such important charities.”

Fine & Country Foundation: This organisation raised a phenomenal £140,000 for charities in need during 2021.

Some £92,000 came from agent contributions from fees; a further £20,000 was raised through events which were run and organised by The Foundation. In addition, another £21,000 has been contributed by the Fine & Country head office through a percentage from referral fees and marketing pack sales.

Many of the agents within the network also took it upon themselves to raise additional money, with £7,000 donated through agents running their own fundraising events, such as golf days, Tough Mudders, and fitness challenges to name a few.

Global chief executive Simon Leadbetter says: “This money can, and does, act as a lifeline for many homeless charities around the world, we have seen first-hand the valuable support that the Foundation offers to people in need. I am thoroughly looking forward to seeing the impact we can make in 2022, through continued endorsements from our charitable supporters.”
