Agents Do Charity - with special fundraising for Samaritans …

It’s been another terrific week for good deeds by our industry - so often under-reported but so important for agents and their communities.

You can be here next week if you let us know your fund-raising work: just email press@estateagenttoday.co.uk and we’ll do the rest.

Now, here we go…

Oakhaven Hospice: Congratulations to Hayward Fox for a terrific fund-raising exercise riding around the Isle of Wight in aid of this great hospice.

Jack Weldon, Richard Ayling, Chris Scaife and James Gordelier took on the gruelling challenge of completing 100k in a single day. They had trained for an earlier date which, like most things, had been scuppered due to Covid; however, the team felt this was such an important cause that they kept up their training and were finally able to take to the road on June 7.

With an original target of raising £1,000 the team were shocked to discover on completing their challenge that the total stood at an incredible £3,610 in support of Oakhaven for all the family, friends and clients helped by the amazing care they provide.

A big thank you to all who donated!

Samaritans: Here’s an unusual one…it’s fund-raising by the editor of Estate Agent Today, Graham Norwood.

He’s hoping to raise £2,000 for Samaritans by walking 26.2 miles during the month of July - the charity calls it a Samarathon.

“It’s been a difficult 18 months for everyone in the industry and we all appreciate now how volunteers for charities like Samaritans provide an invaluable service, being there for anyone, whatever they are going through and whenever they are struggling to cope” explains Graham.

“On top of that it’s been difficult for all charities to raise money in the past 18 months - therefore I hope my small contribution can be supported by the industry” he adds.

You can donate to his fund-raising page here - and see his walking companion Macy…

Pride Month June 2021: The Rook Matthews Sayer agency was proud to support pride month 2021 and hosted its very own RMS pride week. A message from the agency says:

The RMS family used the opportunity to educate ourselves and our social media followers on the LGBTQ+ community and the discrimination their members face worldwide.

Additionally, we hosted a range of pride inspired activities to raise money and support akt, a charity who provide safe homes & a better future for LGBTQ+ young people.

We are delighted to announce that our pride activities were a huge success, our branches were decorated beautifully and the RMS family wore their rainbow colours to celebrate pride month 2021!

A very big thank you to Laura’s Lashes & Beauty, Matt Robson Artwork, The Ravensworth Arms & Morrisons Birtley, who all very kindly donated prizes to our raffle. These included a full set of hybrid eyelash extensions worth £45, a gorgeous canvassed cow print, a gift voucher and a filled to the brim hamper.

Alongside these fabulous gifts, our staff donated 36 prizes, which without their generosity our raffle wouldn’t have been such a huge success. 24 members of staff were keen to participate in our team marathon and we are unbelievably proud to say that we smashed the target of 26.2 miles and completed 122.71 miles and all within 4 days!

We’d like to say a huge heartfelt thank you to everyone who donated money, raffle prizes, sponsored our marathon participants, hosted bake sales and buffets, paid to wear their rainbow colours and much more! Without your kindness and generosity we wouldn’t have been able to raise a fantastic £1,000 for akt, helping them continue with the amazing work they do, providing safe homes & better futures for LGBTQ+ young people.
