What A Corrie On! Purplebricks to sell the Rovers Return

Purplebricks has pulled off another publicity coup - it’s to sell the Rovers Return in Coronation Street.

The hybrid agency, which already sponsors Team GB at the upcoming summer Olympic Games, has now bought the right to have its For Sale boards on Corrie’s famous pub.

The ITV soap is unlike most TV drama in that it has substantial product placement, with companies paying to have ‘branches’ of their shops in vision, or advertising signs in external scenes.

Both Costa Coffee and the Co-Op have ‘branches’ on the street.

Now the storyline from next week will see the Rovers Return’s owner being released from prison and deciding to sell up because his wife has had an affair.

Purplebricks is to be the agency of choice.

A spokesperson for the programme has told entertainment websites: “The presence of a real Purplebricks sign outside adds a little bit of extra realism to a really relatable story between two of our best-loved characters."

I didn’t know Purplebricks did commercial property? Or are they going to be listing it as a development opportunity, like so many pubs and other community assets being sold off post covid?
No doubt the story line will follow the trials and tribulations of the new owners applying for a change of use, and the local residents objecting on the basis that the property is a viable business.
That’s how to add a little bit of realism.

well good luck with selling the Pub at its true value and having a smooth sale (assuming you can get hold of their "agent" and their lawyers know what they are doing......)

Having said that...... Its meant to be a "drama" so the Producers could have made a very realistic choice on that basis......
