TODAY'S OTHER NEWS

Agents Do Charity … Who’s sponsored to climb the cliff edge?

Another week and another frenzy of news, culminating in the Budget and the extension of the stamp duty holiday. A cliff edge or a taper? For the moment, we’re not sure…

But we do know that despite hectic activity in much of the housing market, many agents and suppliers are gearing up for a spring of fund-raising.

Just drop us a line at estateagenttoday.co.uk and we’ll help by publicising your fine work.

Now, let’s get this week’s deal over the line…

Melksham Food Bank: Clare Richter from Keller Williams UK’s branch in the town writes: “In partnership with another company, over the last few weeks we've been co-ordinating efforts for donations of Easter Eggs to our local foodbank to spread a little Easter cheer. We managed to donate nearly 600 eggs in the end, enough for everyone that uses the foodbank.”

Fantastic work, Clare - brilliant!

Local Football Teams: Your Move and the English Football League have launched a competition which enables participating Your Move branches, including those in Scotland, to provide a new kit to a local football team.

The competition runs until April 30 and you can submit details here.

Oliver Blake, the agency’s managing director, says: “This is a great opportunity for our teams to become even more engaged with their local communities and, in turn, give some encouragement to local footballers who we know, at the current time, are missing the opportunity to play.”

Kent Community Foundation: Wards, a leading agency in the county, has made a £100,000 donation to Kent’s Community Foundation’s Hardship Fund for 2021.

KCF is part of a national network of 46 community foundations committed to improving the lives of local people and communities, particularly the most vulnerable, isolated and disadvantaged.

Group managing director David Lench says: “We’ve always seen it as our duty to give generously to charities, particularly in the local area, he explains. For us, it’s important to invest in your local community. That means supporting the charities who work tirelessly to improve the lives of our friends and neighbours.”

Amongst Wards’ charity partners are Macmillan Cancer Support; ellenor, a charity caring for children with palliative care needs; and the Children’s Trust, the UK's leading charity for children with brain injuries.

ThinkForward, National Literacy Trust, Framework: The Nottingham Building Society is giving the career aspirations of young people a welcome boost by donating £50,000 towards the work of three inspirational organisations.

Young people who take part in ThinkForward’s five-year coaching programme in six secondary schools in Nottingham* will benefit from a £30,000 donation by The Nottingham. The funds will pay for some of the charity’s Ready For Work activities, including business mentoring and digital confidence sessions for 300 young people aged 13 to 18.

Support for the National Literacy Trust will help to deliver its flagship Words for Work literacy and employability programme that gives young people from disadvantaged communities the literacy and communication skills they need to reach their potential.

And, like its partnership with ThinkForward, The Nottingham is making much more than just a financial contribution. Over the coming months it will work with the charity to connect young people to positive role models throughout the building society to provide advice and inspiration.

Homelessness charity Framework have been supported by the building society since the inception of Doing Good Together a decade ago. So, it is extremely fitting that Framework will also receive a donation that will enable it to improve the career prospects of its younger service users.
