Agents Do Charity - and we’re putting our best foot forward

Hello and welcome to the end of another week - and a step in the right direction towards the easing of restrictions.

And talking of steps...walking is a big theme in this week’s terrific fund-raising as you’ll see below. If you want to stride into Agents Do Charity in the near future, just email press@estateagenttoday.co.uk and we’ll publicise your brilliant effort.

Mind: Celyn Evans of property management firm Seraph writes: “We are walking a combined 950 miles (from Lands End to John O'Groats virtually) and we are completing this by the end of March

“The company has launched its mental health awareness campaign this month and this health and wellbeing challenge, combined with raising money for a mental health charity, Mind.

“We would be grateful for any sponsorships via the JustGiving Link.”

Good luck Celyn and team!

Penumbra: The team atEdinburgh residential property investment and lettings specialist Cullen Property has pledged to walk, cycle and run the distance from Cullen in Morayshire to Cullen in New York State to raise money for Scottish mental health charity Penumbra.

It will be 3,173 miles in a bid to raise a minimum of £2,000 for the charity and progress will be measured via tracking apps, with regular updates posted on the team’s fundraising website here.

Cullen Property managing director Steve Coyle says: “The pandemic has really put the spotlight on the importance of caring for our mental health. Most of us will have felt stressed or anxious at some point over the past 12 months, and our team at Cullen Property is no exception.”

The team hope to cover the distance by the end of 2021 - and for those members less athletically-inclined, walking is an alternative option!

Laptops for Schools: Well known agency trainer Stephen J Brown continues to do remarkable work to secure much needed laptops for schools during the pandemic.

Stephen tells us that as of yesterday 486 laptops and tablets and 12 dongles have been delivered and/or in dispatch to various schools in England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland thanks to the generous donations from the property industry.

“As I write this £61.200 has been donated. Despite children going back to school, there is still a desperate need for more” explains Stephen.

It’s not too late to donate - you can do so here.

And to give an insight into how useful these donations are, here’s a note that Stephen has received from one recipient of laptops

“Dear Mr Brown, I am the assistant head teacher at The Brookfield School, a specialist setting for children with social, emotional and mental health needs.

“Our pupils have all been unable to cope in mainstream settings, many have had several managed moves to a number of schools and most have experienced periods of exclusion from school before coming to us.

“We offer a trauma informed approach and hold great store by engaging our children in as many different experiences as we can in order to build self-confidence and resilience.

“Two thirds of our children are categorised as disadvantaged and, of these, many do not have access to tablets or other devices at home.

“Your wonderfully kind donation of five tablets which the children can use in school but also borrow to use at home has been incredible and will most definitely make a difference for our pupils. Receiving a surprise call from Jonathan from Hereford Football Club at the beginning of this week to tell me that we had been allocated the five tablets was a fantastic surprise and I would like to say a huge thank you from myself, staff and pupils.”

We are on the same Lands End to John O'Groats challenge but after 10 days we are in between Inverness and John O'Groats and actually aiming to come all the way back down to Sittingbourne by 31st March. We are raising awareness fro CALM and working in conjunction with Agents Giving. Such a conincidence, similar much needed awareness and good healthy competition. Go Seraph.
