Agents Do Charity - even as the snow comes down again…

It’s pretty cold out there, making a difficult time that much worse - except for fans of sledging of course.

But many agents prefer fund-raising it seems, and our thanks goes to everyone on here for contacting us at press@estateagenttoday.co.uk - do the same and you could be featured here next Friday.

Now, on with the show…

Front Door Friday: Yorkshire-based ASAP is launching Front Door Friday, a fundraising campaign for the Samaritans to help those in need in these difficult times.

For every completion it handles, ASAP has committed to donating at least £1 and it is appealing to other businesses in the sector to do the same.

Managing director Richard Megson says: “Whether you are a solicitor, estate agent, mortgage broker, buyer or seller, together our industry could really make a difference.  £1 per transaction doesn’t sound much but with well over one million residential properties sold a year, imagine how much we could raise if everyone in the industry got behind this.“

“There are lots of ways businesses and their staff and clients can get involved” continues Richard, “They can donate a £1 – or more – per transaction through the Front Door Friday JustGiving page, add the logo to their website to raise awareness, create their own fundraising activities or sponsor ours. We would love to hear from anyone that wants to get behind this.”

The JustGiving page is here.

Kingsbury Green Primary School: Winkworth's Kingsbury office in north London has donated nine computers to Kingsbury Green Primary School following an appeal to help pupils who may not have access to a computer at home.

The computers, laptops and tablets included two donated by Stephen Brown of SJB Consultancy, who contacted Winkworth after reading about the appeal.

Ajay Bathija, director of the Kingsbury office, says: "We wanted to help local families who may be finding it hard to cope with home schooling and lack of equipment for their children. We do hope it makes a difference."

NHS Charities Together: De Vere, a collection of historic mansion house estates and distinctive contemporary hotels, has donated £202,248 to this great cause to help NHS staff, volunteers and patients at the centre of the Covid-19 crisis.

The money was raised when De Vere pledged a proportion of the value of each direct bedroom booking, including VAT, to NHS Charities Together* after the hotels were allowed to open in August 2020.

De Vere’s donation will help support NHS staff, volunteers and patients in key areas including welfare and wellbeing, assistance for patients leaving hospital, and long-term mental health support for NHS workers.

Ellie Orton, chief executive of NHS Charities Together, says: “Donations mean NHS charities across the country can continue to be there for NHS staff, volunteers, and patients – helping with immediate needs, and supporting mental health and wellbeing, now and into the future. Thank you to De Vere and its customers for supporting our appeal.”

De Vere’s properties are located across the UK from Surrey to Cheshire and set within country estates and parkland.
