Buyers take Covid tests before viewings - Agents support idea

Propertymark has come out in support of the Scottish government’s demand that buyers take lateral flow tests before viewings.

The measure is contained in new guidance from the government although there is no explanation as to how agents should police it.

A similar demand is made of prospective tenants viewing rental properties.

Propertymark policy manager Daryl McIntosh says: “The measures introduced are understandable and most agents have been still adhering to previous measures.

“The new guidance for viewers to take lateral flow tests is logical but could be difficult to manage and it will put the onus onto agents to ensure the safety of themselves and their clients.”

Other measures introduced by Nicola Sturgeon’s administration include recommending that businesses do not have a Christmas works party and to implement working from home for staff “where reasonably practical” and twice-weekly Covid testing for staff who are working in branches.

No such measures have yet been introduced in England where UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson remains under pressure to announce new restrictions.

Here's some advice; if you don't feel great, don't go on a viewing. You know, like it used to be.

Propertymark are not “agents” they’re a consumer group, so stop reporting what they think as if it’s the industry talking. It isn’t.
