Another agency switches to self-employed broker business model

A London agency has undergone what it calls a ‘genteel’ rebrand with a subtle change of name - but a major shift in its business model.

STANLEY Chelsea has become STANLEY PROPERTY LONDON in part to facilitate its new Consultant Broker Programme, which sees the firm call for self-employed agents to join its brand.

Managing director Patrick Bullick says: “For years, I have been horrified by the sheer number of highly trained, skilled women who leave the lettings side of the property industry to have a family - never to return.

“Most companies demand traditional working hours and many employees find it hard to balance work and family life. It is such a waste of talent.

“Until schools move to a five-term year with kids doing all their ‘home-work’ in school, parents - usually mothers - are bound to early school pick-up times. Plus, covering those lengthy school holidays whilst working traditionally, is neigh on impossible.”

He says “Corona Chaos” has helped change attitudes to flexible working, with his company now offering a solution to those who want an improved work-life balance.

“Our aim is to give experienced lettings brokers a ‘safe-haven’ base from which they can launch and/or run their own businesses, working as and when suits them with all the support they need” Bullock tells Estate Agent Today.

The STANLEY PROPERTY LONDON website says there are six reasons why agents should contact them in confidence to discuss making the shift.

Firstly, it claims ”uncapped earning potential and unbeatable commission” that “far exceeds anything on offer elsewhere.”

Secondly there are more ways for a self-employed agent to earn, through referrals, renewals and bonuses. Thirdly, as the operator of a limited company each individual can call the shots for themselves, while calling on a centrally-provided service including access to LonRes and the three major portals.

Fourthly there’s “more time to grow your client list” according to the agency, while fifthly there is a central resource of administrative and technical expertise.

Sixthly, a reliance on a centralised lettings team means self-employed consultants can specialise in sales and acquisition. “This secures your relationship with your clients who are not necessarily actively selling or buying at the time but who you want to keep as a happy client. We also won’t muscle in on any client relationships you already have” says the firm.
