The housing market remains open in Scotland, despite tighter restrictions announced yesterday by First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.
The only significant difference specific to the agency and property management sectors is that it is now being put into law that in the Tier 4 areas - the whole of the Scottish mainland - work inside homes should only go ahead if it is for essential maintenance or upkeep.
The same provision existed before yesterday but was in the form of guidance, rather than law.
As has been the case since January 5, the regulations for Tier 4 areas of Scotland say people should only leave the house for “reasonable excuses.”
These include moving home or undertaking activities in connection with the maintenance, purchase, sale, letting, or rental of residential property that the person owns or is otherwise responsible for.
The property market is, therefore, permitted to continue - although, as in England and Wales, there is an emphasis that wherever anyone can, they should be working from home until the end of January at the very earliest.
The Scottish islands are all in Tier 3.
Tiers and further changes to restrictions will be reviewed at the end of January.
