Boomin signs up another 15 independents ahead of delayed launch

Boomin has announced another 15 independents as members of the site, which is expected to launch in the near future.

“The latest 15 independent regional agents backing Boomin add to the several thousand agency branches and over 40 per cent of the Top 100 agents that have already signed up to the new platform” says a statement from the portal.

The 15 are: Bradleys, Beresfords, Bridges, Seymours, Taylors and Hammond Stratford; Rush Witt & Wilson, Aldreds, Dowen, DJ&P Newland Rennie, and Andrew Milsom; and Merry Weathers. Redbrik, FirstPort and Richard James.

In a veiled reference to Rightmove, which is now two decades old, Boomin’s executive chairman and founder Michael Bruce says: “2021 will be a defining year for the future of property portals as we finally reach a crossroads. Agents must decide between the status quo, which has changed little in 20 years and is limited in scope to classified advertising, with unfair, unaffordable fees for the vast majority, and embracing change, harnessing the latest technology and innovation.

“With Boomin, agents and their customers can enter a new era where we invest in them to deliver a lasting and transformational experience. Our Agents will enjoy long term value for money, enhanced revenue opportunities, greater exposure than ever before for no extra cost and a meaningful input into the future direction and output of the business.”

Boomin was scheduled to launch in December - and its publicity material still refers to the portal “building to launch later in 2020” - but no new date has been announced.

A series of testimonials released by the portal, and coming from the senior figures in the new member agencies, includes one from Kai Logan - group marketing director of Bradleys - saying: “We feel there are genuine features that will be engaging and provide not only home movers but also the general public with a creative opportunity to re-design their home or their next dream home. It appears to take property websites to the next level.”

And Andrew Milsom, director of Andrew Milsom agency, is quoted as saying: “What is not to like? Innovative approach to engage with potential applicants and clients over a longer period, free for the first year and no tie in if results don’t flow. Hopefully timely competition for the portal that thinks it can keep increasing costs in an uncertain world.”
