Foxtons office damaged by political agitators - four arrested

A branch of London agency Foxtons has been targeted by a group of political agitators called Beyond Politics, which says it’s inspired by Extinction Rebellion.

The Chelsea Kings Road branch of the agency was targeted earlier this month, with windows daubed with spray-painted slogans including “Bright Down This Government” and “Beyond Property Ownership” and “Housing Is A Human Right.”

A mock-up of a Foxtons property description has also been put on the group’s website, depicting 10 Downing Street for sale “for free”.

Beyond Politics says it’s a direct action group using civil disobedience to attempt to bring down the government; however, apparently it’s also intending to fight local and mayoral elections in London with the aim - should it win power - of dissolving councils and instead setting up what it calls “citizen assemblies.”

One report on the Foxtons daubing says four people were arrested at the scene on suspicion of criminal damage. All four activists were released on bail.

According to a report in The Guardian the group - which says it’s inspired by but not directly connected with Extinction Rebellion - was launched in London in June with an event involving five activists shoplifting food from a Sainsburys supermarket “to highlight the instability of global food distribution.”

Bizarre choice of branch- in one of London's most affluent areas. Would have thought their 'message' would have resonated more in an area of 'gentrification'. Hey ho!
