New owners for agency that shut branches and created ‘hub’ structure

Midlands regional chain Andrew Grant, which last year closed some branches as it moved to a ‘hub’ structure, appears to have been taken over by a team including senior insiders and external investors.

The firm, which is nearly 50 years old, posted on its website: “The well-known and trusted brand has transferred ownership. Members of the established senior team, along with two local independent backers, have taken on the brand and are confident in their strategy to further strengthen and grow the business.

“Their streamlined and restructured version of the traditional agency model will continue to deliver greater value and efficiency for clients whilst increasing the levels of personal service.

“The team are intent on creating exceptional relationships with their customers, supported by a strong network of experienced property professionals using industry-leading technology. There is only one purpose, to improve client experience. Our intention is simple - to be the best in an industry that is in serious need of modernisation.”

Last September the agency, then led by Andrew Grant, closed at least two branches.

At that time it issued a statement saying: “The old shop window of an estate agency is no longer much needed. Committed buyers have telephone and email alerts to flag up new properties to market the moment they appear online and simply click a link to learn more and book a viewing.

“Research suggests that few prospective vendors now would choose an agent to represent them because they have the best office position in town - though they might choose the one with the best website.

“These days personal recommendations bring in a high percentage of clients. Google searches and online reviews like Feefo are the go-to research tools for those new to the property market."

On the company website over the weekend Grant was quoted as saying: "I am extremely supportive of the new ownership and am confident that it is in the safest of hands. I wish them all the best”.
