Live chat usage soars during lockdown and as restrictions eased

There was a big spike in the use of live chat across all agency sectors during lockdown - no doubt spurred by so many negotiators and other staff being furloughed.

Data from live chat supplied Moneypenny shows that there was a 94 per cent spike in usage of the facility by agents in sales and lettings during lockdown.

Specifically once the housing market restrictions were relaxed in mid-May Moneypenny saw an increase in letting viewing enquiries by 210 per cent and sales viewings by 184 per cent.

Early in the lockdown the average duration of live chat to agents was 490 seconds; that increased slightly to 499 seconds on average as restrictions were lifted and viewings were being arranged.

Other sales sectors such as those in the automotive, legal and corporate business industries saw proportionately similar rises in usage and duration.
