Sales centres reopen next week with deals already beating 2019

House builder Taylor Wimpey says its reopening show homes and sales centres next week, but for pre-booked appointments only.

In a message to shareholders the firm says that during lockdown it sold 48 homes and averaged a private sales rate of 0.3 homes per outlet per week, despite restrictions.

Cancellation rates have averaged 27 per cent during lockdown.

For the week ending May 10 its total order book came to 11,033 homes compared to 10,489 for the same period of 2019.

Now the company is setting out what it calls "detailed plans for a return to site sales activity" and extend its customer service provision.

This includes an extended warranty for Taylor Wimpey customers during lockdown as well as "enhanced support". A new discount scheme has also been put in place for care workers.

The firm will open its show homes and sales centres for booked appointments from May 22.

"Our people are looking forward to being able to welcome customers to their sales offices and show homes, energised by new skills developed in serving customers digitally over the last seven weeks” says chief executive Pete Redfern.
