Top Brass - former RICS and NAEA chiefs reveal their home offices

Working from home is something of a leveller right now, applying to people in the capital and in the sticks, but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea.

Jeremy Leaf - one of the country’s top agents, running his own north London business and a former RICS residential chairman - admits: “I don’t know how other people manage for so long to work from home. I am finding it very difficult as are my team. We are all missing the office banter and the ability to bounce ideas off one another but having said all that, we are managing quite well in the circumstances.

‘We are using Zoom and WhatsApp more frequently and accelerating a lot of the changes that we had started to make anyway such as video tours and virtual working. No doubt more innovation and other developments will emerge as this lockdown continues.'

Former NAEA Propertymark president Katie Griffin is working at home too, but in a very different location - her home on Dartmoor.

Katie runs Sawdye & Harris which has three offices in Devon, and her advice is: “This is a time when only the strong will survive and you can't stop just because it's tough.

"Focus on what you can control and don’t fret about what you cant. Channel your energy and focus on achieving things every day – that might be speaking to vendors, baking a cake with your children or challenging yourself to learn a new skill! Come out of this stronger, more resilient and more connected with your clientele.”

Thanks so much to these stalwarts of the industry sharing images of their new workspaces…

** Over Easter we have a selection of images and top tips from agents on how they’re coping with working from home. We have different stories across Estate Agent Today and Letting Agent Today, so do please check out both sites. Thanks - and stay safe… **

Good article Katie, but you don't live on Dartmoor! You live some miles away from its edge on the other side of Chudleigh in Teignbridge! That is unless you've forgotten to alter your Facebook page and other records to a new moorland address. Chudleigh is a lovely part of south Devon nestling below Exeter Forest and a stone's throw from the Teign Valley and is a delightful place to live.
