Volunteering, free parking, vulnerable shopping - one agency’s brilliant work

Can any agency beat Knight Frank for a brilliant collection of selfless work? We doubt it, as the agency has provided us with a list of offices and staff doing good deeds in their local communities.

- The Belsize Park office has offered its parking spaces to the Royal Free Hospital next door, so that NHS staff don’t have to get on public transport. Similarly the St John’s Wood office has offered its car parking spaces to the hospital opposite, The Wellington;

- Mikaela Thompson, office manager at the Chelsea office has been shopping for her 80 year old neighbour and she got a lovely message of thanks from a friend of the lady;

- Chris Burton, head of our Dulwich office, says his team has dropped off flowers and John Lewis gift packs to clients working in the NHS;

- A former negotiator in Knight Frank’s Marylebone Lettings team, Ayesha Pakravan-Ovey, is currently delivering free hot meals to the vulnerable, elderly and NHS workers via her new company, The Plattery;

- The Chelsea lettings team has been assisting NHS workers with finding accommodation at a discounted rate. The good news is quite a few of the owners have said they would accept a much lower price - half in some cases - to show their appreciation for staff in the NHS;

- Bruce Tolmie-Thomson, regional partner in the country department, has been offering to do shopping for elderly clients who cannot get out

- Helen Waddilove, senior negotiator in Stow-on-the-Wold, is the pharmacy co-ordinator for the village that she lives in. She’s contacted by those needing prescriptions picking up and collects them from four pharmacies across four different towns to deliver to their doorsteps - queuing up to an hour at a time at pharmacies;

- Julia Robotham in the country department and a few of her colleagues have signed up for the NHS volunteer scheme;

- Jo Holdback in the agency’s Stratford office takes part in her village buddy scheme where you buddy up with someone who is self-isolating or high risk. She has buddied up with her neighbours, both of whom are over 70, one with a heart condition and the other living with cancer. She’s been doing their shopping and just generally checking up on them. Her children send them daily postcards on what they’ve been doing that day at home school.

*Today is April 1, traditionally April Fools Day - cracking a joke in the current circumstances doesn’t seem quite right, but we’re using the opportunity to highlight the great work being done by agencies in the wider community to help us all get through the Coronavirus crisis.
