NHS frontline heroes told by agency: “We’ll sell your homes for free”

An online agency has offered to sell the homes of NHS frontline staff for free.

Doorsteps, set up by high profile young entrepreneur Akshay Ruparelia, has tweeted: “A massive thank you to our NHS staff and all frontline key workers. From cleaners to bus drivers to doctors - we owe you one.”

And he adds: With a property market freeze, it’s hard for us to do much. BUT, when the restrictions are eased, I will sell NHS frontline staff homes, for free. If you know someone that can take advantage, please share this post or ask them to message us and we can help.”

This is just one example of agents seeking to help the NHS in return for the help it has given the nation during the Coronavirus crisis.

And the online property advice service Property Road has created posters people can download and print for free to show their support to the NHS and key workers - there’s a colour version and a ‘colour your own’ version to keep children entertained.

You can download it here and Paul James from Property Road says: “We've had a great response so far with hundreds of posters being downloaded every day. We'd love to get the word out and help even more people support our heroes.”

Meanwhile London estate agency Dexters - which has criticised media coverage of its actions last week when it allegedly asked staff to work during the early stages of the lockdown - has also backed the NHS.

In a statement yesterday it said: “In light of the heroic work being done by the NHS and other key workers, Dexters can announce that the firm has made NHS Charities its main charity partner for the year ahead and once the current quarantine period is over their charity committee will look at ways to make donations and do charity raising activities for the NHS.”

*Today is April 1, traditionally April Fools Day - cracking a joke in the current circumstances doesn’t seem quite right, but we’re using the opportunity to highlight the great work being done by agencies in the wider community to help us all get through the Coronavirus crisis.
