Boomin now claims 40% of the top 100 UK agencies

The soon-to-launch Boomin portal has signed up a national firm and now claims to have recruited 40 per cent of the country’s top 100 agencies.

Boomin, set up by Michael and Kenny Bruce - the Purplebricks founders - says it’s signed up “several thousand agency branches”.

Amongst the latest signatories is national firm Carter Jonas and respected London agency Martin Gerrard.

Another 13 regional operators have also been signed up as founder members of Boomin.

“Agents of all sizes are embracing positive change and the latest technology to deliver a superior service for their customers and provide greater earnings potential for their teams” says Michael Bruce.

“It is a privilege to get the opportunity to work with such a large and growing number of forward thinking agents who are keen to be the pioneers of change and to ensure that they have greater influence over the future of their customers portal experience and their advertising spend. We will work tirelessly to support them” he continues.

Today’s latest signatories are: Carter Jonas; Martyn Gerrard; Urban & Rural; Bond Oxborough Phillips; Hall & Scott; Perry Bishop; Steven Smith; Base Property Specialists; Coopers; Atkinson McCleod; Anthony Pepe; Richard Kendall; Brockenhurst; Stephenson Browne; and Scott Sheen and Partners.

Boomin has now repeated the familiar statement that agents who sign-up at this stage qualify for Founder Agent status, which means a free equity share allocation and use of the platform itself until January 2022 at no cost.

“Thereafter, Founder Agents will benefit from locked in pricing, with compelling, transparent and guaranteed terms until 2024. Base fees for Founder Agents, which include pretty much everything that other portals levy additional charges for, will from 2022, be just £300 and £400 outside and inside London respectively” says the portal.

David Ruddock, head of residential sales operation for Carter Jonas says: “We are delighted to join Boomin as Founder Members and be part of such a pioneering and game changing property portal which we think will re-invigorate the property market and facilitate an innovative way for Agents to develop relationships with new clients.”

Simon Gerrard, managing director of Martyn Gerrard Estate Agents adds: “For any modern and forward-thinking estate agency, signing up to Boomin should be a no brainer. The platform set to launch is one that will put control firmly back in the hands of estate agents while also delivering exactly what customers need, and Martyn Gerrard are delighted to be working with them.”

If the Connels x Countrywide deal goes ahead the only thing that will be relevant in portals is when will they launch Rightmove 2.0.

In the melee of portals that we've had this year- do you think anyone else is thinking of doing a portal?

This is all very well, but aren't most of those agencies just still going to use Zoopla, Rightmove, OnTheMarket, Homesearch, etc, as well. From what I've seen, a number of agencies - even the smaller ones - are using a wide range of portals to generate leads.

So this excitement that Boomin - like others before it - will lead to the destruction of Rightmove just doesn't bear witness. They're getting huge amounts of press, as you'd expect from a Bruce brothers vehicle, and they clearly have strong investment and are very good at marketing a brand and getting a name out there, but I am still going to wait to see what happens. I remember the same happening with OTM, which positioned itself as a disruptor for quite some time until it settled into its position as the third portal - successful, but not the game-changer it promised to be.

What's the point in paying for something that has no track record for delivering results? Moomin hope to succeed where so many others have failed and you know, good luck to them for going great guns into this however I think we already have our Coke and Pepsi of the property portals.

    Kristjan Byfield

It's free for over 12 months so plenty of time to prove if it's getting traction or not before fees kick in.

Now claims to have recruited 40 per cent of the country’s top 100 agencies.

I've not heard of any of these names? Top 100? Err

Reading it for what it says CLAIMS are completely different than FACTS.

    The appropriate word is PROPAGANDA.

    Kristjan Byfield

You've never heard of Carter Jonas, Martyn Gerard, Anthony Pepe or Atkinson McLeod? Really?

    Hit Man

Yep Kristjan never heard of any of them and I question the 40% of the top 100, that means at least 40 have signed up is that branches, companies or offices, no true figures, ‘ Smoke and Mirrors’

As a small independent who has been held to ransom by Rightmove for many years, speaking personally, I welcome Boomin. I have cancelled my Rightmove membership to expire at the end of November. Nice saving for Christmas, and quite frankly, with a tough year ahead, I need to make more savings. My presence online with Zoopla, OTM and Boomin for a total less than a third of the cost of Rightmove seems a sensible future plan. Being solely in Lettings, I have the product (Landlords) already and will rely on the bespoke service I provide to keep clients and grow my business..... certainly not Rightmove.

I wonder whether Purple Bricks will buy into this 🤪

From Day Zero you can bet.

It's the year 2000 and estate agents up and down the country are proclaiming that 'they'll give Rightmove a go but we'll kick it into touch once the fees start'.

    Deja vu anyone?

    Matthew Payne

True, but are many going to pay for RM, Zoopla/OTM and Boomin once their fees start? Surely there has to be casualties somewhere? RM is here to stay whether people like it or not, but will all these challenger portals all just each nibble away at its market share as people like John above rationalise a combination that works for them?
