New Hub agency with two fee options is recruiting agents

Another hub-based agency has launched in the capital, following in the footsteps of operations like Harding Green, Orchards and Keller Williams.

Mariel Roe and Michael Whittaker, who have a combined 40 years of experience in the industry, have set up Properly, which they describe as “a new kind of agency” operating from a serviced office in Victoria.

Properly has told Estate Agent Today that it is operating across the capital and is currently seeking to recruit self-employed agents.

“Now is the time for change. It’s a challenging exciting market out there. And if you are selling someone’s home or dealing with their investment you should be doing it to the highest standards. You should be doing it properly” says Roe.

The pair, who worked in both corporates and independents in the capital including JLL, Felicity J Lord and Sequence before setting up the new firm, say they were “frustrated at the old way of doing things” while seeing that newer online models fell short on customer service.

“Properly is based own a different model, better suited to today’s property market. It is a model that offers customers a choice between the best of the established agencies and the disruptors” according to Whittaker.

Vendors will be offered a traditional percentage commission option or an up-front fixed fee model.

The agency’s website emphasises its ethical nature and it will give three per cent of its fees to selected charities in London.

Font choice makes the agency’s website look distinctly DIY. Not impressed.

With Mariel at the helm, this business is destined for success. Best of luck to you both.

Though I know of no scorecard, does anyone out there know what in 2019 was the profile of companies who set up in that year.

Eg, 100 traditional agents set up from an office, 80 hub agents set up from high street location, 40 hub agents set up from non-high street location, 23 franchises taken, 230 self employed in eXp or KW type of role, 170 LPE's various online agents.

Just to get an idea of the direction of travel, including the opening of new corporate branches in whatever format. I think it will make interesting reading.
