Independent agents offered ground-breaking new homes opportunities

Independent agents in a fast-growing trade body are to be given the opportunity to secure exclusivity on land deals and new development resales in their areas.

Estate Agent Today has been told that the opportunity is being offered by the Federation of Independent Agents, set up by Graham Lock with the aim of leveraging the economies of scale of a large number of independents, in a bid to compete effectively with the big corporates.

Lock says the FIA Land and New Homes division will give FIA members the chance to secure exclusivity in their local areas with an emphasis on targeting land deals and new development resales together with conveyancing and financial services.

The new initiative will be lead by Ed Harrison former regional director of new homes for Countrywide, alongside Chad Deakin, formerly a regional land director for Spicer Haart; both are now involved in day to day operations of Deakin White’s own land and new homes business.

Lock says: “The land and new homes market represents a significant revenue stream opportunity for high quality estate agents - the problem is that many do not know how to unlock the potential and often assume that it’s something that only the larger chains and corporates benefit from.

“Ed and Chad have many years of experience in this niche market and posses a healthy black book of development contacts throughout the country. The FIA is quickly growing in size and reputation for housing top performing agents which represents a solid foundation for the new service to flourish.”

And Lock adds: “There’s not a great deal of choice for independent agents who require the support and guidance for land and new homes which can be frustrating especially where exclusivity exists. This offering ... opens up a new wave of exclusivity for our members and as with everything we do as a federation, pricing will reflect fairness and affordability across the board.”

Harrison currently runs multiple new-build sites including a 200-unit project for Linden Homes, and adds: “I’m really excited to be teaming up with Graham and the FIA to assist members in driving new business in 2020 and beyond, the opportunities are vast, we already have a solid lead flow to work with, as the FIA grows so will our ability to deliver and scale nationally.”

Last week the FIA announced the latest of a series of partnerships with suppliers and other industry support groups - this one with the prospecting and CRM firm Loop Software. Under the partnership, independent agents in the FIA will enjoy what the association calls “exclusive group commercial rates” for Loop products in return for providing feedback “to assist with product development and future innovations.”
