Tories give housing a major role at party conference next week

The Conservative Party conference agenda, now published, gives the housing issue several bites of the cherry in Manchester next week.

Housing minister Esther McVey is one of three panelists taking questions from Tory members in an event called Spreading Opportunity Across the Country in the conference on Monday morning.

Meanwhile Robert Jenrick, the new Secretary for Housing, Communities and Local Government is one of the main speakers in the main conference on Monday afternoon in a session entitled Building The Infrastructure Britain Needs.

The Chancellor of the Exchequer, Sajid Javid, is also having a stand-alone speech scheduled for Monday afternoon; all eyes will be on whether, ahead of a predicted General Election, he will indicate the he will reform stamp duty as has been widely expected.
