Countrywide to integrate iconic London agency into Hamptons brand

Countrywide says London agency Greene & Co, acquired back in May 2015, will become ‘fully immersed’ into its Hamptons International brand in around six weeks time.

Greene & Co became famous some years ago as a result of a fly-on-the-wall TV series about its activities.

After the announcement that Countrywide was taking over Greene & Co - one of the last expansions for Countrywide before branch closures and other cutbacks hit the troubled group - some Bairstow Eves branches were rebranded to Greene & Co.

But then in late 2016 the office that was considered the Greene & Co flagship, at Kentish Town in north London, was shut as part of Countrywide’s much-publicised branch closure programme.

However, a statement from Countrywide now says that the Greene & Co rebranding to the Hamptons stable will be complete on November 18.

The statement says that “since the acquisition of the brand, much has been going on behind the scenes to fully integrate the business into Hamptons. And it is now felt that the time is right for this transition to occur.”

No details have been given of what those behind-the-scenes activities have been for over three years.

Lesley Cairns, managing director of Hamptons International, says: “It is a recognised business in the area and has strong local connections, which is why we are looking forward to bringing their energy and ethos into our company, as we look to expand and diversify our offering.

“Hamptons International is an established brand, and this year we celebrate our 150th year, but as we look forward to the next 150 years and what that looks like, we want to make sure our offering is consistent and that our customers have the very best exposure, network and opportunity.”
