Agents beware as council cannot take search queries for six weeks

A local authority in the Home Counties says it will not be possible to accept search queries for six weeks starting tomorrow.

Surrey Heath council says it is changing its database software: the task, even if it runs to time, will take until mid-September, with local land charges and building control queries amongst those services that will have to wait until the change is completed.

A notice put on the council’s website, and circulated to EAT and others by conveyancing organisation Bold Legal Group, says:

From the beginning of August 2019 until mid-September 2019 the Council will be changing its database software across a number of services including Local Land Charges, Planning and Building Control.

As a result, it will not be possible for the Authority to accept any Local Land Charges Search requests between 1st August 2019 and 17 September 2019.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Following the announcements by HMRC in December 2016, we implemented the introduction of VAT on all CON29 and CON29O products from 1st January 2017. This means that all our current prices for CON29 searches will be increased by 20% to reflect the VAT applied.
