Banker’s brainchild: new First Time Buyer service is launched

FirstHomeCoach, the brainchild of a former HSBC banker, has launched with the aim of providing “every service” a first time buyer will require.

Founded by Ben Leonard, former head of financial institutions at HSBC, the online service has partnered with a number of data, mortgage and property companies as well as HM Treasury.

FirstHomeCoach was one of a number of recipients of £100,000 from the government’s Rent Recognition Challenge in 2017 and 2018, which sought ideas on how to get rental payments recorded on tenant scores.

The service now allows users to have their rental payments recorded on their credit report, as well as offering guidance to first time buyers on deposit saving, credit scores, mortgages and insurance, house hunting and solicitors.

In addition it has teamed up with referral services to companies like London & Country mortgages and insurance firm Homelyfe.

Part of the free-to-use site says: “The site provides information and links to our partners’ services (mortgage advisers, solicitors, insurance) which we think you will find useful, but we can’t guarantee it’s all perfect. You do need to be aware that you use this information at your own risk and we can’t accept liability if things go wrong.”
